River Monster Sighting?
A recent incident unfolded when an angler in Italy unexpectedly hooked a colossal catfish measuring almost 3 meters in length. It was truly a behemoth river monster.
This encounter has left the angler thrilled, as this unusually massive catfish has the potential to break a new world record.
According to international media reports, Alessandro Biancardi, a man from Italy, was fishing by the Po River in Lombardia when he felt an immense tug after casting his bait. Instantly realizing he had caught a gigantic fish, he engaged in a fierce 40-minute battle with the creature, exerting every ounce of strength. Eventually, he pulled the massive fish ashore, only to discover it was a nearly 3-meter-long catfish of epic proportions.
Biancardi expressed his shock, stating, This giant catfish is the largest I have seen in my 23 years of fishing. I am convinced I caught a monster.
Eager to determine the exact size of this enormous catfish, Biancardi promptly contacted a friend who brought measuring tools to assess the dimensions of this colossal river monster. The measurement revealed a length of 2.85 meters, raising hopes of breaking the world record.
Currently, the world’s longest catfish measures up to 2.81 meters, making Biancardi’s catch 0.04 meters longer than the existing record, truly a remarkable feat.
However, Biancardi later expressed concern about the well-being of the colossal catfish. He worried that the fish would exhaust itself or suffer stress from the prolonged measurement process, leading to its demise. Consequently, he decided to release the catfish back into the river after a single measurement, without even determining its weight. He stated, I hope it can live happily in the river.
